Kolkata: Lovely Professional University has achieved a notable distinction, securing the highest number of patent applications in India for the 2023-24 academic year. According to the Intellectual Property India Annual Report issued by the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks, Government of India, LPU submitted an impressive total of 1,418 patents. This figure exceeds the collective patent filings of the Indian Institutes of Technology, which amounted to 1,106, and the National Institutes of Technology, with 417 patents.

LPU's success extends to the corporate and information technology sectors. The university filed 580 patents in IT, placing it third nationally in this domain, only behind the industry leader Jio Platforms, according to an LPU statement.
